Join us for a meaningful conversation on gender-based violence (GBV) as a tactic of war. This non-political discussion will focus on expanding understanding of the impact of GBV and war trauma around the world, as well as the effect on our community. The discussion will include reflection on global and local opportunities that support healing and peacemaking.

Our facilitator: Dr. Susan Rhema LCSW, PhD is faculty at the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work and Family Science, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Dr. Rhema began her career working with indigenous women in communities in East Africa and Latin America. For a period of 7 years, Dr. Rhema was the clinical director for the Survivor of Torture Recovery Center in Louisville Kentucky. In private practice Dr Rhema has provided therapeutic support to hundreds of refugees, immigrants, and survivors of human trafficking. Dr Rhema is a member of the War Survivors Institute team providing healing circles for veterans and refugees who have experienced war violence.
