Hadassah Greater Detroit invites you to a virtual series learning about different Hasidic communities, discussing some provocative issues, and viewing videos of Hasidim in their home environments! You don't have to have watched the Netflix show to participate! It is important to see Hasidic Jews as real people with genuine, relatable problems. They deal with many of the same issues that we all do. Gain an understanding of what the life of Hasidim is really like.
Four sessions will focus on the following areas:
January 11 - In the Beginning...The background of the Hasidic movement.
January 25 - Before J-Date...Hasidic ways of dating, mating, and weddings.
February 8 - A Woman's Place is...The Power of Hasidic Women Who Do. Are they considered second class? A focus on Hasidic superwomen.
February 22 - Believing or Leaving...A closer look at the people who want to and do leave their Hasidic communities.
