Join the Hadassah Greater Detroit Health Professional Council for an informative evening about "Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation: Applying New Knowledge to your Practice." Participants will learn relevant terminology, common concerns, and practice suggestions related to gender identity and sexual orientation as they work more inclusively with diverse clients who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. You will learn the importance and benefits of creating a safe and more inclusive environment for your clients/patients.

Mari Alschuler, Ph.D., LISW-S, is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Youngstown State University, Ohio. Dr. Alschuler received her Ph.D. from Barry University (Florida), in Leadership and Education/Higher Education Administration and her MSW from Fordham University. She is a Poetry Therapy Practitioner and Supervisor through the International Academy of Poetry, has authored three chapters on poetry therapy in two textbooks and one chapter on social work group supervision in the International Handbook of Social Work Supervision (Routledge, 2021). Dr. Alschuler is in a group private practice, where she specializes in gender identity issues and gender dysphoria, as well as anxiety and depression.
