Caren Stelson is the author of the award-winning book Sachiko: A Nagasaki Bomb Survivor’s Story, A Bowl Full of Peace, and the forthcoming picture book Stars of the Night: The Story of the Nicholas Winton and the Czech Kindertransport. She has had a long career in education as a teacher, writer-in-residence, freelance writer, and author. After graduating with her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota and meeting Sachiko Yasui, peace has become one of her major themes. Caren traveled to Nagasaki six times to grasp what it meant for Sachiko Yasui to survive the WWII atomic bombing of her city as a six-year-old child and find the strength and courage to become a peacemaker as an adult.
