Hadassah Greater Detroit is pleased to invite Assistant Attorney General Sunita Doddamani to speak about hate crimes and domestic terrorism in Michigan and across the United States. She will discuss trends in these activities, including antisemitic hate crimes and how they affect the Jewish community.

Assistant Attorney General Sunita Doddamani is the Head of the Hate Crimes and Domestic Terrorism Unit at the Michigan Department of Attorney General. The Unit investigates and prosecutes hate crimes that are motivated by race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion. The Unit’s mission has recently expanded to include investigations and prosecutions against domestic terrorism, motivated by violent extremist ideologies.

Sunita is currently the lead attorney on eight charged defendants who provided material support for the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Whitmer, the case against the white-supremacist terror cell “The Base,” and several hate crime murder cases. She has also served on the Flint Water Prosecution Team.

Sunita is a Detroit native and first-generation American. Prior to serving in the Michigan Department of Attorney General, she spent her 17-year career in public service working as an Assistant Prosecutor in Wayne and Macomb Counties. Sunita has tried over 150 cases involving violent felonies.
