July 7: Israel Right Now!

Learn the most current information from Dr. Daniel Aschheim, who will speak on Israel from conflict to culture and from history to here and now. Dr. Aschheim is Consul for Public Diplomacy for the Consulate of Israel to the Midwest. In conversation with Chicago-North Shore President Francine Ephraim, Daniel brings his savvy in media, culture, academics, and the Jewish community to his work and to us in this Summer Camp 2021 opening session.Plus, we’ll say farewell to Consul General Aviv Ezra and his wife Einat, as they join us prior to their return to Israel.

July 14: Why American Jews Need Remix Judaism

Roberta Rosenthal Kwall, author of the recent book Remix Judaism: Preserving Tradition in a Diverse World, will explore her thoughtful and insightful vision for all Jews seeking a sense of belonging in a changing world, regardless of their current level of observance.

July 21: The Universal Appeal of SHTISEL

The beloved Israeli television drama about a fictional Haredi family in Jerusalem with their loves, losses, joys and foibles, is brought to life by Cindy Stern, Executive Director of the Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema and Gibora Chapter Co-President. What is it about this show that we all love?

It wouldn’t be Summer Camp without beautiful, restorative music! The refreshing, graceful music of Nefesh Mountain, a Bluegrass and Old-Time band with a Jewish perspective, will have you becoming life-long fans of these spiritual and elegant musicians.
