Join Tikvah Hadassah as author Linda Cohen speaks about what it was like to be the daughter of Sarinka. Linda will give historical information about what the United States was doing at the time this American internment camp was established, a camp her parents were in for a year and a half. Many of the facts Linda shares are not in the book, but help to show Sarinka in the context of this period in time, which will make the story more meaningful. She will also discuss research on children of Holocaust survivors.

Sarinka: A Sephardic Holocaust Journey from Yugoslavia to an Internment Camp in America, is a true story about a young girl, set in WWII. It is a story of perseverance, hope, love, and survival. Her world suddenly shattered when the running and hiding began on her wedding day, the day she dreamed of her whole life. Sarinka and her husband face danger and uncertainty as they desperately try to save their lives. No matter how tough life got, they never gave up hope, even in 1944 when they found themselves in an internment camp in America, one that many never knew existed.

We encourage you to read the book before the event.
